Congratulations to The Houghton Weavers....

PRESS RELEASE

(for immediate publication)

This year, The North’s favourite comedy folk outfit will be celebrating the fact that they have been entertaining audiences for the past three and a half decades.

Original members Tony Berry and David Littler both agree….” We still enjoy performing now as much as we did all those years ago”.

The group had a meteoric rise to fame when they were asked to host their own B.B.C. T.V. North West programme entitled “Sit Thi Deawn” which ran from 1979 until 1985.

“Not bad for 4 lads who set out to have a bit of fun”. Say’s David Littler. The group have had few changes to their original line-up which now consists of Tony Berry (lead singer)
David Littler (guitar, mandolin and vocals) Steve Millington (bass and keyboards).

Steve  (who owns FROG STUDIOS in Warrington)  joined the band 14years ago and as he says “ David and Tony are great to work with and I love the way they just go off at a tangent singing whatever anyone shouts out”…….

The Weavers, apart from singing every type of folk song are well known for their comedic interludes, telling jokes, anecdotes or simply relating the funny side of their own lives. They all agree that as well as  providing ‘value for money’ shows they are a band that  endeavours to provide top quality family entertainment and will always stay true to their motto to:-

“KEEP FOLK SMILING”
